Reflections on the Conclusion of an Employment Tribunal.

By Doris Ekos Okundaye, CEO

The long-awaited employment tribunal has now come to an end, marking the conclusion of a deeply challenging yet transformative chapter in my life. I am profoundly grateful that it has been resolved in a way that provides much-needed closure and allows me to move forward with clarity, strength, and renewed determination. I hope sharing my journey can serve as encouragement to others facing similar battles.

A Journey of Challenge and Growth

Navigating an employment tribunal is not an effortless journey. It can be overwhelming and emotionally draining and requires resilience, patience, and a clear understanding of one’s rights and responsibilities. For me, the matter was more than just a legal process—it was a personal journey. It tested my strength, my resolve, and my ability to remain grounded in the face of adversity. Through this, I realised the importance of encouraging others who might be walking a similar path. It forced me to confront difficulties head-on, while also reflecting on what truly matters: integrity, wellbeing, and self-respect.

Lessons Learned

One of the most important lessons I have taken from this experience is the necessity of protecting oneself in both professional and personal relationships. Not everyone has your best interests at heart, and misplaced trust can have serious consequences. This tribunal has strengthened my resolve never to support or align with anyone whose actions could harm my life, wellbeing, or career. Safeguarding one’s integrity is not only important—it is essential.

Another lesson is the value of perseverance and faith. Despite the emotional strain, I found strength in prayer, in my faith in God, and in the encouragement of those who stood by me. Among the most valuable support received was the heartfelt encouragement to persevere from friends and family. This process reaffirmed that justice, though sometimes slow, is possible, and that we must never be afraid to stand up for ourselves when faced with injustice.

Looking Forward

While this chapter has closed, the future feels open and full of promise. I intend to carry forward the insights gained, to foster positive and respectful relationships, and to build a career rooted in trust, compassion, and mutual support. My focus now is on creating new opportunities, empowering others, and using my experience to bring encouragement to those facing their struggles.

Gratitude

I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to those who have supported me. I am especially thankful to Ajay Kapur, CEO of PLMD Group (https://www.plmdgroup.co.uk/), whose unwavering support and guidance have been a true blessing. His encouragement has been a pillar of strength, and it has been a privilege to get to know him. I would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to Khan and Manuel for their invaluable support. Their kindness and solidarity have made a real difference during this difficult journey. To all others who offered encouragement and strength, please know that your support has not gone unnoticed—I am truly grateful.

Special Thanks to Rafael Katz and the Peninsula Team

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Rafael Katz, Senior Litigation Consultant and Solicitor at Peninsula, as well as to Paul and the entire Peninsula team, for their exceptional support.

Your expertise, guidance, and professionalism have been invaluable in helping us navigate our legal matters with confidence. Thanks to your dedication, we can move forward assured that such issues will not arise again.

Thank you, Rafael, and everyone at Peninsula, for your commitment and outstanding service. Your support has truly made a meaningful difference.

Encouragement to others

To anyone who may be facing a similar challenge, I want to say this: stay strong, stay informed, and never lose sight of your worth. Protect your wellbeing, hold onto your integrity, and trust that brighter days lie ahead.

This tribunal was one of the hardest parts of my life, but it changed me. With renewed resilience, gratitude, and hope, I am ready to move forward into a future built on respect, trust, and positivity.
