True Ambassadors hosted an outdoor event on the 28th of June. https://www.armedforcesday.org.uk/event/true-ambassadors-armed-forces-day-. It turned out to be a truly momentous occasion! Under the summer sky, neighbours, friends, and community leaders came together in a heartwarming display of respect. They showed appreciation for our armed forces and the communities we proudly serve.
This day was more than symbolic—it was a chance for our community to say, in one voice: We see you. We thank you. We stand with you.
At the heart of this event was a powerful message: gratitude to our servicemen and women. Their bravery, selflessness, and commitment to our nation continue to protect the freedoms we often take for granted. It was an enormous honour for True Ambassadors to be part of the national celebration. The success was thanks to the support and recognition of the Armed Forces Event Team. Celebrating the Power of Community
One of the most moving aspects of the day was the turnout and warmth from the residents of Plaistow North and the wider Newham community. From those who volunteered behind the scenes to the many who brought homemade dishes to share, you embodied the very essence of unity. The laughter, shared meals, and dancing—all of it created a joyful and inclusive space where everyone felt seen and celebrated
Special thanks to Father John, whose blessings added a spiritual resonance to our day. The event reminded us that community is not just about coming together—it’s about uplifting one another with love and grace.
A Milestone Moment for True Ambassadors
For me, Doris Ekos Okundaye, as the founder and project lead, this event was more than just a celebration; it was a milestone. Organising our first-ever outdoor event came with many unknowns and countless hours of planning. However, the joy and pride I witnessed on the faces of our guests made it all worthwhile. The success of this day affirmed our purpose: to build bridges, inspire action, and foster resilience within our communities.
