On 10th December, our independent UK charity organisation hosted another one of our regular meetings. It was a great chance for everyone to learn something new, connect with others, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon together.
The meeting started with Doris introducing the True Ambassadors Talk Show, which she hosts every Saturday. She spoke about how the show covers important topics that matter to the community and encouraged everyone to tune in and join the conversation.
As part of our digital inclusion project, our volunteers led a session on online safety, diving into different types of scams and how to avoid them. Participants explored the many scams that exist today and learned how to spot and steer clear of them. Real-life examples were shared, making the advice practical and relevant for everyone.
Participants also got hands-on practice with the tablets we provide. It’s always great to see people building their confidence with technology, whether they are learning something new or just brushing up on their skills.
As usual, our volunteers were available throughout the session to answer questions and help with anything that needed extra explanation. Whether it was about the day’s topics or something personal, we made sure everyone had the support they needed.
Following this, Shein Macques led an insightful talk on making healthier lifestyle choices. He emphasised the importance of being cautious when selecting food supplements and medicines, pointing out the risks of not understanding their effects. Participants were encouraged to learn about their blood health—knowing what their “blood picture” reveals—before making decisions about supplements or medication.
And, of course, no event would be complete without some snacks and refreshments. Sharing a cup of tea or a bite to eat always brings people together and gives everyone a chance to chat and relax.
It was another successful day for the charity, filled with learning, conversations, and a sense of community. Events like these are part of our commitment to digital inclusion, ensuring everyone can access and confidently use digital tools. By addressing barriers like limited skills or access, we aim to empower the community to thrive in an increasingly digital world. We’re excited to keep building on this momentum and can’t wait to see what the next event brings!
