As highlighted in our recent article, “The Future of Digital Inclusion and the Role of UK Charities,” bridging the digital divide is a critical challenge in today’s world. True Ambassadors is proud to be part of the solution, and yesterday, we took a big step forward by launching our Digital Inclusion Programme.
Supported by Newham Council, this initiative aims to help our community members gain the digital skills and confidence they need to navigate the online world safely and effectively.
We were excited to welcome both familiar and new faces to the first session. The event was led by digital advisor Lennie Prosper, who gave an easy-to-follow and interesting talk about using technology safely and effectively.
Lennie started by showing us how to search on Google. He explained how to do basic searches and shared some useful tips for finding information more easily. He also talked about how Google works and how we can get better results when searching.
Next, Lennie explained why antivirus protection is so important. He talked about the different types of viruses, like spyware and ransomware, and how they can harm our devices and personal information. He also showed examples of antivirus programmes and explained how they can keep us safe.
Lennie then introduced us to artificial intelligence. He explained what it is and how it works, using ChatGPT as an example. He showed everyone how to find ChatGPT and use it for everyday things like learning, solving problems, or getting creative ideas.
The session was a great start to our Digital Inclusion Programme. Everyone was excited to learn and eager to keep going. Over the next few weeks, we will explore even more topics and help our community gain the digital skills they need.
Shane Macques: Sharing Insights on Healthy Living
We were thrilled to welcome Shane Macques, a wellbeing and nutrition expert, to our session. Shane runs Macques Nutrition, a business focused on helping people improve their health naturally. His approach uses remedies like algae, herbs, adaptogens, and smoothies to reduce or even eliminate the need for pharmaceutical treatments.
Shane’s session was packed with practical advice and valuable insights. He talked about the importance of making smart food choices, explaining which foods can boost health and which should be avoided. He introduced some of the natural remedies he works with, including bitters for immunity, anti-inflammatory foods, and the benefits of raw diets.
Shane also discussed the connection between the mind and body. He explained how practices like meditation and mindfulness can support overall wellbeing, highlighting the need to care for both mental and physical health for a balanced lifestyle.
We are grateful to Shane for sharing his knowledge and passion with us. His talk inspired our group to think about new ways to live healthier lives.
A Special Celebration to End the Day
We ended our meeting with a special celebration for one of our amazing members, Sandra. Sandra has been with us for a long time and is always there when we need her.
She is the first to lend a hand during busy times and stays after every event to help out. Her kindness and hard work make such a big difference. We were so happy to take a moment to thank her.
It was a lovely way to finish the day, celebrating someone who gives so much to our group. We’re lucky to have Sandra with us, and we can’t wait for more moments like this in the future!
