On Tuesday, 3rd September 2024, our independent charitable organisation, True Ambassadors invited the community for an inspiring Health and Wellbeing session. This event was part of the People Powe Place Project and was held at the Queens Road Plaistow Community Centre. It brought together residents for an afternoon filled with practical advice, lively discussions, and a strong sense of community. This event was all about sharing useful tips and fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere where everyone could learn and feel empowered to make small changes in their everyday lives.
We were lucky to have two fantastic guest speakers who made the session both informative and enjoyable. Joseph Murray, from the Environment and Regeneration team in Islington Borough, gave a very practical presentation on how to reduce energy bills. A topic that’s on everyone’s mind these days. His advice was particularly helpful for pensioners and residents over 60, offering easy-to-follow tips that could make a real difference. He stressed how just a simple phone call could unlock free services, making it clear that help is readily available.
Adding a touch of warmth and inspiration to the session was Adriana from Beauty Cosmetic and Skin Care. Along with her son, she spoke about the importance of self-care. Their session was a hit, as they reminded everyone that taking time for self-care isn’t just a luxury. It’s an essential part of staying healthy and happy. Adriana’s upbeat and friendly approach made her message really resonate. She encouraged all of us to think about how we can better care for ourselves amidst our busy lives.
This session was a true reflection of what True Ambassadors aims to achieve: creating spaces where people can come together, learn something new, and feel supported in their journey towards better health and wellbeing. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to connect with our community in this way and look forward to hosting more of these sessions in the future. It’s moments like these that remind us of the power of coming together and supporting each other in making positive changes, no matter how big or small.
