On 29th October 2024, True Ambassadors hosted another memorable “Mental Health Matters” event at Plaistow Community Centre, bringing together residents for a day dedicated to mental health awareness and support. This impactful meeting, part of the People Powered Places Project, was organised in collaboration with Rotary Club Stratford and supported by the Good Thinking Team.
Doris Ekos Okundaye, CEO and Project Lead of True Ambassadors greeted attendees with a heartfelt welcome, setting a compassionate tone for the day. Madam Abosede Agbesanwa, Assistant Governor – East London District & Community and Vocational Chair of Rotary Club Stratford, followed with an inspiring message. She encouraged everyone to prioritise their mental well-being, share openly about their struggles, and find strength within the community.
A lively and interactive session led by Agata Roszczynska from the Good Thinking Team and Rotarian Ify invited attendees to reflect on mental health challenges. Participants shared personal experiences and insights into mental health causes and strategies for prevention, fostering a safe and open dialogue.
Arietta Chandris highlighted the therapeutic power of art, and Adriana from Beauty Cosmetic and Skin Care shared how self-care and personal hygiene can positively influence mental well-being.
True Ambassadors is incredibly grateful to all who joined, and especially to Madam Abosede Agbesanwa, whose support and hospitality added a warm touch to the event. She generously provided delicious food, including chicken, chips, salads, tea, coffee, and biscuits, creating a welcoming atmosphere that allowed everyone to connect and engage.
The “Mental Health Matters” event reminded us of the strength of coming together and the importance of mental well-being. As an independent UK charity, True Ambassadors is dedicated to fostering these meaningful conversations and connections, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.
