On September 13th, 2024, True Ambassadors celebrated the British Science Festival at Plaistow Library, warmly welcoming students from Curwen Primary School for a vibrant day of science. The day offered a range of scientific activities, interactive demonstrations, and hands-on learning experiences. These engaging sessions aimed to spark curiosity and excitement about science in the young participants.
The highlight of the day was an engaging presentation by guest speaker Harriet Wooten from Wild Science. Her demonstrations, including balloon experiments and slime-making, captivated the students, offering a fun and educational experience. From observing the effects of air pressure on balloons to getting messy with slime, the children were fully immersed in the wonders of science.
True Ambassadors were also honoured by the presence of Shahrukh Ansari, a dedicated volunteer from the STEM Ambassadors programme. His involvement brought inspiration to the event. He showcased the exciting possibilities of a STEM career and encouraged the students to dream big.
We want to express our deep gratitude to Afiya Rahman and the Plaistow Library Neighbourhoods team for their invaluable support in organising and facilitating this impactful event. Additionally, we are immensely grateful to the British Science Community Grant for their generous funding, which made this initiative possible. Their contribution allowed True Ambassadors to bring smiles to the faces of students and teachers alike, making science both accessible and enjoyable.
The event was a tremendous success, filled with energy, excitement, and learning. The positive response from the students serves as a testament to the significance of these initiatives. As an independent charitable organisation, True Ambassadors will continue to create opportunities for young people to experience the wonders of science. By hosting events like these, we aim to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem solvers. Our commitment to the community remains strong. We look forward to organising more events that make science fun, accessible, and exciting for all. Together, we are shaping a brighter, more innovative future.
